Dr. Deepa Nair
Littcrit in connection with its Golden Jubilee Celebration conducted a National Conference on Spectrum of Voices: Diversity and Inclusiveness in Language, Literature, and Culture, in collaboration with IRJH & Department of English, ST. Xavier’s College (Autonomous), Palayamkottai on July 21 & 22, 2025 at Palayamkottai, Tirunelveli. The conference began with Professor Dr. P.P. Ajayakumar’s insightful keynote address on Voices from the Margins: Exclusion, Dissent and the Contemporary Indian Narratives. Pramod K.Nayar, Professor and UNESCO Chair in Vulnerability Studies informed and enlightened the gathering with his pithy observations on Supervening Posthumanism: Artificial Beings, Inclusivity and the Category of the Human.
The second day of the conference was enlivened by Dr. Meena T.Pillai’s powerful and engaging talk on Digital Feminism. Dr. V. Christopher Ramesh’s extremely informative session From Globalism to Nationalism Again: The Changing Dynamics in Migration, Governance and Reactions raised a lot of intriguing questions and there was an interesting discussion. The next session by Dr. Sushma V. Murthy on Objects or Agents? : Resignifying Women in Contemporary Popular Culture Narratives was an eye opener, as the speaker provided insights into the power of the visual medium and it was followed by a lively Q& A session. The day’s events came to a full circle with a panel discussion on New Research Trends by Pramod K Nayar, Dr. Sushma V. Murthy and Dr. V. Christopher Ramesh and Deepa Nair. The conference was organised by Dr. D. Jockim, Assistant Professor of English, ST. Xavier’s College, Palayamkottai.
